The communal home for the Institute of Koorie Education at Deakin University.

Now known as the NIKERI Institute, this new circular building was designed in conjunction with Deakin University to provide a sense of place and gathering for Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander Australians.  A sense of shelter is reflected in the simple skillion roof form that cantilevers and tapers to a fine edge at its extremities.

The design incorporates an honest expression of materials including steel and concrete along with the warmth of timber cladding and battens.
