Based in Geelong, STUDIO101 ARCHITECTS are a multi-award winning, innovative and progressive practice led by the founding architect and director, Peter Woolard. With over 25 years experience in leading Architectural design firms in both Geelong and the United States, Peter and his team are able to offer an ideal balance of experience, energy and passion. As an A+ practice member of the Australian Institute of Architects, studio 101 architects offer a thorough and professional scope of services from the initial Concept Design right through to Contract Administration during construction.
We pursue a contemporary and refined form of sustainable architecture, based on a modernist approach to composition and detail. Materials, texture, light and space are all carefully considered in order to create an architecture that is both exciting and functional. Design solutions are highly responsive and individually crafted to reflect individual client aspirations, site, brief and budget.

PETER WOOLARD
Peter Woolard was born and raised in Geelong. In 1989 he received a Bachelor of Arts (Architecture) from Deakin University and while studying, played in the Victorian and National Basketball Leagues with the Geelong Supercats. During 1990, he travelled abroad to study at the prestigious California Polytechnic State University and was awarded to the Deans Honours List. While in the United States he also completed internships at the San Francisco Planning Department and Kotas Pantaleonie Architects and travelled through the U.S.A. and Europe. Peter then returned to Deakin University and graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture with Honours. Following this, he worked as a project architect with Esam Lowe architects and McGlashan Everist architects.
Peter established STUDIO 101 ARCHITECTS in the year 2000 with the design and construction of his new home and office at 101 Kilgour Street Geelong. As the founding architect and director, Peter has led the growth of the practice to produce a ‘refined sustainable architecture’ that is highly responsive and individually crafted to reflect individual client aspirations, the site, brief and budget.
Peter places a high priority on continued professional development, attending conferences, lectures and was one of the few Australian architects accepted into the celebrated ‘Glenn Murcutt International Masterclass’ in 2002 under the guidance of Australia’s internationally acclaimed architect, Glenn Murcutt. Peter has maintained an active involvement and contribution in and toward architecture through his appointment to the ‘RAIA State Education Committee’ for 2004 – 2005 and with on ongoing commitment to teaching and guest lecturing in architecture at Deakin University.
